Greetings from London everyone.

This is my first post on any sort of forum, so I apologies in advance for any errors or omissions.

I have a little gemological experience.

Many years ago I completed the first year of Gem-A's course here in London, continued my studies at The Gemological Institute for Precious Stones in Israel (now defunct) & after graduating, spent 3 years as diamond grader, gemologist & lecturer there until I was offered a job in the financial markets.
25 years later, now retired, I chose to return to my first passion... Gems!

With a relatively low cost set up, a trinocular AmScope microscope, a digital SLR camera and some gooseneck LED lighting I have been experimenting with photomicrography.

I humbly submit a few of my early efforts for your consideration.
Please feel free to share your thoughts and offer any advice. I need all the help I can get.
I hope you like them!

Jon

Thanks for the welcome messages Barbra, Jimsfault & WClee... I get a lot of encouragement from family and friends, but they all think I'm slightly obsessed with gems, so it's great to share images and thoughts with like-minded people ;)
I'm glad you picked up on the "balloon" thing Jim, that's how I saw it too. Do they still call Gilalite in Quartz "Medusa Quartz" after the jellyfish?
While I took this image the 1960's tune "would you like to fly in my beautiful balloon" kept going through my head. I hope you are too young to remember it !
I have been working on some new images which I will post soon.
Jon
