Hi everybpdy, I have recently bought a nice pendant with a 7x5 mm chrome diopside from Russia. The gem is included, some inclusions can be disclosed also with the unaided eye. I observed these inclusions under microscope, but it was hard to focus the inclusions... they appeared to me almost doubled. I thought that it might be due to the fact that diopside presents birifrangence (?). However, I found some tubular structures that I was not able to ID
Here with oblique lighting
With greater magnification
MIght they be "growth tubes"? What do you think about these inclusions? Thank you all Grazie
or may be somthing else but these inclusions are not comon for chrome diopside and it does not double the image if magnification is not so strong. and the color of your stone does not look like chrome diopside
Thanks for your kind reply, energyos The gem has been sold and certified to me as "chrome diopside"... I read that "fibrous inclusions" might be found in diopside http://gemologyproject.com/wiki/index.p ... e_Diopside But I don't know whether these "tubular" inclusions might be classified also as "fibrous".
