Hey everyone--I think having one thread with all my images ended up being a bit unwieldy so I'll just post some select ones in their own threads as applicable.

These are some cool features I saw in a combination moss/sagenite agate that we got back from a friend who cuts cabs for us last weekend. His polish was high enough to allow a great window into the stone which showed some rather unusual features. Yellow plumes and green moss are common enough, but these plumes have a very pleasing flower-like appearance and the moss is botryoidal and covered in fine green spines.

Holy crap, Stephen.
Mind blowing! Did you get this material in Tucson? What is the magnification? What is the origin?
Can you post a pic of the specimen(s) without magnification?

Unfortunately this one is actually my dad's, and he doesn't remember where he got the rough. Probably picked out of a bucket at a gem show with no provenance attached. Magnifications vary from about 30x-60x; recording them is a bit of a pain and I usually forget.
Here's an uncropped picture of it in my hand:

I suspect this is golden sagenite agate from Needle Peak, Texas. The popular name is pom-pom agate. Beaufiful stuff.

I am always amazed Rick. You have seen every stone in the world and REMEMBER what it is and where you saw it.

Wish that was true Barbra -- I fall far short of that description. But some stones are pretty distinctive. The Big Bend region of West Texas in the Terlingua/Alpine area produces some incredibly beautiful agates, many with unique characters. The Pom-Poms are among them, though my ID is just an informed guess.

Thanks! Contextually that would make sense. I haven't run into too much pompom agate before, and what I've seen wasn't this nice. I'm going to have to take a look at finding some more.
