Congrats for your new microscope! Cool pictures! The first one is columbite-tantalite in Paquistani aqua, not rutile (Yeah, so coveted coltan!). And colorless crystals that come together are most probably albite. I've analyzed the very same samples on SEM... |

Barbara O. Ellis sent me several of her included stone collection for pics. Among the most interesting was a sapphire that showed this. http://www.heliconsoft.com/support/mms/93933954.html |

I need her to remind me of the color and origin I've lost all my databases PLUS email backups ). This inclusion seems to approach an almost unique status after an inquiry or two who, among them, have looked at thousands. Bet Barbara still has it. Bet I'm gonna try to buy it... This may be a better pic: https://www.amazon.com/clouddrive/share ... _link_copy Gotta do something about storage since Imageshack shafted me. Uhhh...must admit they gave fair warning, tho'. |

"That Barbara Ellis" is no longer there, she moved . She still has that blue sapphire; bought it in Tucson out of a box that was supposed to be all spinels. Did she tell the sellers what it was? Of course not . Caveat venditor . |

Also, would like to know if it was a 10'' eye clean - did she have to loupe it to spot the inclusion, or if it was apparent with closer eye-balling. I SEEM to remember that it had very good saturation, and that the inclusion didn't jump into view. to her on the find.... Don't guess she is selling Love that ''Caveat venditor''! |

I'm embarrassed to say my gemology room is not yet completely set up . I will dig through the mess and see if I can locate the sapphire before I leave to visit family and friends in West Virginia. |

It's so nice to be missed . John, I did a cursory look through my gemstones, but didn't find it. I know I didn't sell or give it away, so it should be here somewhere. It will have to wait until I return from my trip. I really should get my gemmo room set up anyway, so I'll go through all my boxes and gem-jar trays. |
