It is important to be cautious of this material; synthetic jadeite is difficult to detect. The minor differences in IR spectra can be detected with FTIR spectroscopy. Synthetic jadeite has different reaction to UV.

Jadeite has become easily one of the most expensive coloured stone in the gem quality region, but its appreciation is still largely limited to Asia and chinese communities worldwide.
