That's right; a secondary reason would be to hide the potentially marring microtubules, which form subparallel to the c-axis. However, even when they're cut correctly, a very slight tilt is enough to produce back facet doubling. |

Hi Snizzy, Fascinating indeed, a synthetic moisanite face up showing doubling of back facets.? Just great. Normally this would be more prominent from a tilt and viewed through the kite facets...but.. ! The picture even shows the reflection of girdle if you concentrate enough in the centre gives a doubling outline !! Cool. Thanks for that. Hugs, Annie |
