I was wondering if anyone is producing transparent cubic boron nitride crystals with some real size to speak of? (maybe for industrial or science applications)
If so, diamond people beware, because it sounds like it could be a perfect candidate for a diamond substitute (it's isotropic, hardness is about 9.9, density is about 3.5, RI about 2.1, with high thermal conductivity).
All these new crystalline compounds that are being synthetized these days (many of which gemologists do not feel concerned about) are making me worried because some might fall pretty close to the physical and optical characteristics of existing natural stones.

hi,
this material is not so recent, guess why there's no alert around about that..... maybe, despite it's physical characteristics, it's not suitable as a diamond simulant.... ciao alberto

If they get bigger, they'll be even prettier than they are now. I'd buy one
