Check out this listing.

I wrote to ask the seller if this was actually a natural spinel or lab-created. Here's his answer: This is a natural mined spinel treated by heat and pressure diffusion method to look like a tanzanite.Thanks.

I've never heard of such a thing :shock: . Can anyone enlighten me on this??? I don't think I trust this information :^o .

Hi,

Sounds like synthetic to me, a clean 8 carat spinel finishing at 5$ from a seller with no feedback, even if the treatment is as stated(i dont Know if it really exist on natural spinels). Now, im wondering what could have been the color prior to treatment as ANY would have been worth way more lol.

Im curious as to see if GIA had more news about this kind of treatment since 2008.
