If I suspect a stone (corundum in this case) has been at one point broken and was glued back together, is there any way I can test that? Keeping in mind I don't mind if the stone falls apart in order to find out.

It all depends on what was used. But I would be tempted to drop it in some acetone, or attack and see what happens.

Tried acetone with no effect, and it's currently the only solvent I have on hand. Had it soaking overnight.
