Quartz.htm I don't think heat treatment would do much to colorless quartz, since most effective heating seems to work on quartz that is already colored. One other possible effect of heat treatment though is releasing tiny water droplets within the stone which can give it a milky blue or violet color. I have only heard of that stuff starting out as citrine but I don't know if it would have to.
