I have found this sapphire for my treated sample data base.
This is a Titanium (Ti) diffused sapphire.
This treatment is hold, well know and well described in books....but
It seems to me that when a treatment is well know..with the time...it can be forgotten..
I think this is the better place to do a litle "help memory / recall"
Without immersion (or a very close observation) this sapphire look like heat treated sapphire. (The heating clue are not always evident).
When immersed in water (or best in methylen iodide):
The facets jonctions (edge?) and the "rim core" effect is not the same as in natural sapphire....
Have you the reflex to put yours sapphire in water to detect this treatment?
