I have a very intense blue fluorite (daylight, led) in my collection which does change colour into an intense purple (incandescent). I bought the stone at a dutch fair last year. I always presumed the material, and bought it as so, to be natural.

Seeing this topic makes me curious whether it is treated or not! Will check the stone. Is there anyone who has a similar fluorite (colour change; Blue - Purple) in there collection who know whether the material is treated or not?

I know it's been a while since any posts here, but having come across one of the gems, I was curious about it myself.
I started wondering if anybody knows enough about irradiation processes, that might be able to find out if treating flourite with Cobalt60 makes it's exterior "stronger/more durable", to help prevent those little scratches from even slightly affecting its appearance???

That's not how radiation works. You can poke little holes in the crystal lattice or screw around with the oxidation state of some of the components. It can't make fluorite any tougher. Nothing can.
