Some Important News

We just wanted to update everybody to let you know 'The Handbook of Gemmology' is now available as a straight download as of August 8th. This eliminates two important things, the mailing costs and the wait. It is available through http://www.handbookofgemmology.com

The new downloads include a couple of new features, most notably a hyperlinked index and the files are now device specific to make it easier for users to put them onto their different devices.

For existing owners of the book, purchased in the DVD format, we will be contacting you and offering you a free download of the new version so that you too can enjoy the hyperlinked index.

Kindle Users

While the new formats do not include Mobi, Nick Koss purchased the downloads and e-mailed us to say that he used the 'Android' download file (which is now an encrypted pdf), converted it to Mobi through Calibre and is now enjoying the book on his Kindle Paperweight.

Anyway, we just wanted to update everybody and let you know the latest news.

Cheers

Geoff & Tino

Hi Barbara. I think it will. We are in the process of sending out e-mails to everybody you has previously purchased the DVD so that they can upgrade to the hyperlinked index version so expect something in the next couple of days. You can then download the files (the one you particularly need is called 'Android & Other E-Reader Download) and then we can help you convert the file using 'Calibre' into a Mobi file for the Kindle.

I suppose this is an odd question, but why don't you do the conversion once yourselves and offer the mobi file as a download as well?

What a great idea. You know sometimes the most obvious things get lost in the shuffle. Cheers Geoff
