This is an excellent title.
It is currently out-of print and sells for over $200 on Amazon.
I bought copy on eBay for $30.

Barbra -- Do they make one of these books for spinel? I haven't found one.

I can't see any ExtraLapis on spinel on their website.

Anyway, if you know some German, the tourmaline issue is available directly from the Lapis website @ 17.80 Euro.

It comes handy knowing some German from time to time: I was looking for a mokume gane book (Midgett's more comprehensive one) and on amazon.com now is @ 495.00 $ +S&H (+ taxes) I got the German version (it's a translation: it should be more expensive) for 47.77 $, shipping included. In the EU website(s) of amazon, again.

Wow! Didn't know there were so many ExtraLapis titles  . I only have the first three. Wonder why they haven't done one on spinels? :(

MoDo, there is a new spinel book mentioned up in a thread in the top section you might be interested in.

Here it is.

Yes, I've seen it, thanks, Mooie :D . I was hoping for a more ... umm ... wallet-friendly book 8-[ . That one is $95 plus another $65 for shipping. I will try to check it out while in Tucson, however. Purchased there saves the shipping cost, so if it's really a great book I might have to have it 8)

Excellent, besides.... you can't get cosy by a crackling fire and read a kitchen gadget.

Thank you Mehoose for the spinel book link. I had missed it the first time around and spinel is one of my very favorite gemstones.
It sounds like a great book and a must have for spinel lovers.

Just had to revisit this thread after seeing this! Are these people serious? Guess I'd better lock my copy up somewhere!

Apparently it's still for sale (English version) at 25 euro directly from the lapis website. There's a new 2nd issue about tourmaline (in German, at 17.80 euro), though.
No spinel monographs (yet?), anyway.

I should stop browsing that website before I take my card out of the wallet. There are sure some potentially interesting publications... must-wait-next-mineral-show-to-check-titles... :)
