ISBN 978 1 85149 625 9 Susanne Belperron
A new bible for the jewelry aficionado with some insight on Susanne Belperron (AKA Madame Belperron) and her revolutionary jewelry in the 20's, 30's, 40's and 50's. A lot of pictures of her jewelry, beautiful gouache rendering as well as some plaster and prototypes. She changed the look and perception of jewelry in the begining of the 20th century. Her pieces are still very fresh and modern if not futuristic. Her clients included the Duchess of Winsor, Daisie Fellows Holywood stars as well as European royalty and jet set social lights of the days. She worked with Boivin in the begining of her career bringing them her very inovative slyle and influenced Verdura, Paul Flato, Bulgari, Chanel and many more. Definitly a book that was missing in the industry and a must have despite the price. It was time to pay homage to this "grande dame" of jewelry.
