Because the typical gem aficionado is a curious person and forever a student, I thought you would apreciate some books about gems with some historical value that I found particularly interesting. They're all public domain. It's interesting to see how it was hard to learn about stones without modern equipment (and how they actually got it wrong sometimes!). Also, since prices are so influenced by a society's atribution of value, it is possible to perceive how prices and preferences changed across the years.
