I get questions via email almost daily with questions about "raw" stones.
Where did that come from? When you fashion them are they "cooked"?
:smt017

Is this common terminology? I've always referred to unfashioned stones as rough.

Anything in particular about "raw" diamonds? Maybe the two below would be useful. Personally, the Microworld of Diamonds by Koivula is spectacular. The book by Peters is more focused on inclusions from a diamond cutters perspective, with much less scientific detail, but may be useful for your needs.

Raw is a useful marketing term for uncut stones these days. It probably ties in with the use of the term to mean "unaltered" in foods. A bit snappier than "rough" or "uncut" too.

Excellent suggestions, Nathan.

thank you for the repliese

@Barbara im apologize, if I was politically incorrect but events in the last days show that political correctness is a no go way heh. and yeah it is reference to somthing that's initial properties were not modified.

@Nathan something related to origin of diamonds, what are the predictors of their natural shape, then a little bit science around their colors, why and what differences are between diamonds from africa, Australia, Russia etc... your suggestions look good though

@Stephen yea, raw uncut, rough same family. but calling somebody rough-vegan-green-rossfiter just doesnt not fit heh
