Post subject: Magenta/Violet and Emerald Green Vesuvianite

Does anyone have any definitive measurements of the refractive indices of the emerald green and magenta-violet-y vesuvianites from the Jeffrey Mine, Asbestos, Quebec? I'd like to know whether their RI's are diffrerent from other, "common" vesuvianites.

Hello, Daniel,
Sorry for the delay
Despite some little difficulties to read the RI on a crystal natural facet, I have take the refractive index on my sample of Jeffrey mine, deep green, Cr-beharing vesuvianite.
Arround 1.720 with a birefringence probably near of 0.001.
I have check a "normal" greenish vesuvianite and I have the same RI reading (i.e. 1.719-1.720 DN~0.001)
It seems that Cr-Vesuvianite has not very different RI than a "normal" vesuvianite".
Hope that help.
