Snicker,,, I got into trouble with this question before, several different people were telling me several different things... to my way of thinking (hahaha) everybody can laugh now. I think Heliodor should mimic the color of the sun... is there green in Ol' Sol?

G'day Ux4,
Its only if rich golden colour that it is called Heliodor. Whereas if its a light or pale colour it is more referred to a yellow.
I really like the Heliodor, as the yellow colour is due to iron. The optical and physicals can differ a little from the acquamarine which is also coloured by iron differing in body colour.
You may find a week absorption band in the blue, however no luminescene is seen in UV.
Yellow Beryl or Heliodors are usually mistaken for other yellow stones such as citrine, but this should be no doubt as the RI will sufficiently be lower than the Beryls.
