Hey Barbra! I really like the challenge you posted here! As Beth, my wife, said above, I have been collecting clear gems for her to test when she has her G.G. I was joking earlier to her that you had it easy with fairly common clear gems. I've been slowly putting together a collection with odd clear stones, like euclase, enstatite, tourmaline, etc. What other unusual clear stones can you think of that I need to add to Beth's torment?

Well, I can't stand it any longer. Here is a list of more clear stones:
petalite,
danburite,
fluorite,
beryl (goshenite),
tourmaline (achroite),
apatite,
garnet (leuco, grossular),
chrysoberyl,
bytownite,
crystal opal,
kunzite,
phenakite,
hambergite,
pollucite

What have I missed?

Maybe we could put together a complete set of each possible colored stone and offer a Master of the Colorless / Blue / Red / Green, etc Color certificate for those who can correctly identify every gem in a color set. Those who do them all get a Master of the Rainbow certification!

Probably only GIA has a complete set like that. Oh well, it was fun to think about.

there's one thing worse than clear stones: black ones

imagine a set with onyx, obsidian, black corundum, black spinels, jet, black glass, black zircon, black garnets, carbonado, black tourmaline, black opal, bixbyite, augite, aegyrine, hornblend, neptunite, etc...if no SG kit is vailable that's a nightmare

btw, neptunite is my very favourite black stone

specimens of neptunite with benitoite are splendid

I even love the name Neptunite

Ran the GT Pro Separator with Colorless and Transparent selected. After a couple of redundant hits were removed got over 130 gems. Now why didn't I make it so you can copy that list and post it here?
