From the vaults the NHM (London). The Hans Sloane sapphire turban button. 31.5 Ct set in quartz. Inlaid with gold, ruby and emerald the stone does show some signs of wear. The Sloanes collection formed the foundation for the British Museum and Natural History Museum and many street places and squares are named after him (Hans or Sloane).

Pity there is not more information on the history on this piece.
Nowadays it is considered important to have the history of the object.
Otherwise it is culture without content. Here is an interesting link.

Nowadays its important to have full information on an object. One would have thought that Hans Sloane would have provided more information on this. It must have been owned by someone high up at the Mughal court. Here is the British Museum link to it.
