Tiffany & Co Italy? if that was manufactured here you should be able to find another hallmark: rectangle with a star on the left followed by two letters and numbers......that is mandatory for every piece manufactured here since 1962

I suspect the bracelet was made for export into the US. Similar to the Paloma Picasso and Elsa Peretti pieces manufactured in Italy for sale in Tiffany stateside.

The sterling bracelet, may be a reproduction, a copy. The safeties are on alternate sides of the bracelet, we have never seen a Tiffany bracelet with the safeties like that.
What is the quality of the weld in the silver loops? Many of the reproductions have sloppy joins on the link loops.
There are enourmous quantities of Tiffany fakes on the market, and many of them have hallmarks that duplicate the authentic ones perfectly.

Hi HeatherS. Thanks for your information. You've got us all buzzing about this safety situation.
Now, is this something you've learned from personal experience over the years, or is there some reference to it in the literature? Thanks in advance for the update!

Hi Barbra;
The safety hooks being on alternate sides is something my husband doesn't remember seeing before on a Tiffany bracelet; he has been dealing in estate jewelry over 25 years. We don't have verification from a book.
It is too bad Tiffany charges $1000 for research from its archival department. Other than perusing vintage Tiffany catalogues, there is no way to verify. You might bring it to a Tiffany retail location, but the expertise of most of the staff we have encountered has been in recent product lines.
