Hi All:
I am trying to ID the maker of a rather nice ring that I just picked up at an auction. 18kt yellow gold, ladies cocktail ring, bombe-shaped, diamond accents, the gold dome in an overlapping, leaf design. Anyways -- there is a maker's mark on a small plaque deep inside the underside of the ring. It simply reads "MARCUS" in block letters. Rainwater indicates a company of that name out of Rhode Island, but they appear to be long gone. I, of course, was hoping to find evidence that Marcus & Co. sometimes just used the name MARCUS, but couldn't find such evidence! So, any suggestions on who the maker is, and if possible, period, would be most appreciated. Thanks! Sorry for poor quality of maker's mark image -- really hard to get a good shot the way it is made.

Hi Neil. The piece you posted appears to be mid to late 20th century. Marcus & Co. was founded in 1892, producing jewels in the Art Nouveau and Arts & Crafts style: Like this plique morning glory brooch/pendant.
To my awareness, all maker's marks by Marcus & Co. always contained the & Co. :
They merged with Black, Starr & Frost in 1962, but then the maker's mark changed to
or some variation of the above
PS I saw the picture of the Tiffany & Co. ISRAEL mark on Linkedin. Completely wrong.
