I came across an interesting ring from a seller of estate and antique jewelery. According to her, it is Georgian-era ring, 18k gold with a foil-backed topaz as the center stone.

It's rather attractive and interesting--sorry for not having more pictures, that's all I had time to take.
It's an interesting piece--given its age, I was hoping there might be an outside chance the stone was from Schneckenstein, but I am guessing that Brazil is a more likely source for a piece this late?

It is not even sure that the central stone is a topaz.
Many antique jewelry sellers use the word "topaz" for all the yellow stones they come across, no matter what they reallly are.
Have you seen and checked this piece personnally ?

I've seen it, and the owner said she'd tested it (presumably just a quick RI with a jeweler, at least I'd hope). It looked more topazy to me than citriney, but who can really tell with a slightly-peeled foil backing?
