Hi All,

Been too busy recently and haven't been on this forum often. These video clips were taken by my friend Russ from Montana USA who visited me in summer of 2006. I would to thank him for his excellent record, possibly the first and only video record on our sapphire mine.

Here are the links:

These are the major steps in our sapphire mining operation. I can upload more later. :D

Alex,
Thanks for posting these videos. They're great fun to see.

So...what became of the large chunk of corundum?

Such a big chunk would be ideal for a door stop...

Kidding... But we did that before when there were so many stones around.

Nowadays these big corundum quality stones are usually carved into various shapes for sale.

Here are more videos:

1st one showing bulldozer and CAT working the dirt. The paylayer lies about 15 meters down.

2nd showing our village house. This is typical north China farm house. Around the house are wheat fields with newly harvested wheat. The net of the platform is for fishing shrimps in the lake. I like the village life.

3rd is a village fellow pushing a carted loaded with sacks of wheat. Note the small dog running.

Why the ladies have clean hats? We put up a plastic shield between the water gun flushing and the ladies doing screening work.

People are having lots of fun.

Hi Alex and all.
I to have been very slack with posting, last 6 months have just been so busy. Thanks for the images, simple things we think are of no interest are actually sometimes most important,my new Video camera remains in the bottom of the cupboard waiting for time
We continue to poor the Fuel into production of Sapphire And Black Spinel,Rough prices has increased dramaticaly in the last months but still struggle to beat cost of production :x Its a real pity but for the Hobby or small Lapidary not finding good rough will continue to get harder as returns for bulk lots are much more attractive then the the smaller number that meet the,I need to cut a perfect over 1ct prefer 2-3ct Gem.
The Dollar return overall makes it real hard to pick these out of large parcels, just a fact of life as we fill outstanding Gem orders.
Have to go now and pack some Lapidary machines and Gems for shipping, bye all.
P.S. are you going to Gem Fair Bangkok in September? not sure if I go yet but trying.
Cheers Andrew
