This is the continuation of my other post Aqua/beryl under Other topics related to gemology. This is the same mine where that aqua came from in the last three pics in the under that other post.
Here is the path to the peg.
Here is the contact zone between peg and host rock...err...dirt
When you see these big books of mica you know you are getting close
Here is some super decomposed tourmaline(schrol). The tourmaline sometimes points towards the area of higher mineralization. I have found some crystals of tourmaline from here the as wide as a coke can but they were all chewed up.
You know you are real close to beryl when you see this different colored K-spar. This stuff tends to be close to the core or a quartz offshoot.
Hard to see in the pic but my mattock point is resting on the top of the quartz core
Here is the good one we found yesterday...well, actually the boss man found it but he said "whats that, pick that up Jason thats a funny looking rock, well by god thats a beryl". I tried to say "well you spotted it but I picked it up first, don't I get to keep it" ha ha it was worth a try, right. this crystal must have been real close to the surface as it's stained by clay real bad. Usually you can spot them right off the bat but with this one stained so bad it was hard to see.
We couldn't get it cleaned well out in the field but we did uncover a spot with facet amterial that the boss man said should cut at least a small stone. he is going to pop it with a hammer to see how far the facet goes inside the crystal. The problem is you destroy a couple hundred dollar specimen in the process and there is no guarantee that there is any facet in the center.

Here is a little better pic that was taken today. To get it real clean you will have to soak it in iron-out to get off all the staining. It's such a nice specimen to bad it's going to be busted open this week.
