This one is aimed at AMGUY
There are only occasionaly finds of alpine Amethyst in Austria. One location where we do find szepter amethysts from time to time is the Mörchnerkar, a high alpine region in Tyrol. Most of the pieces from there are light coloured and usually smaller than 6 cm.
But the Hofer Brothers, well known Rockhounds from our region opened a cleft in 2004 containing the best Amethyst crystals mined so far in Austria. A rare and precious find, same location as the Moonstones by the way.
Have a look at these beauties: About 20 cm long
