Just came across this item on Ebay while searching for something completely different - tracked this back from an electronics shop. Have always tried hard to think of new and creative ways to use our gems but must admit that this particular idea never occurred to me.

Got to give this lady credit for thinking outside the square

Why not do your Christmas shopping early and get a Gemstone Teabag Tag - check them out:

Just thought we could lighten the mood on the forum a little with a nice cup of tea :D

cheers

Hopefully those beads aren't oiled if they drop into the cup of tea!

I did something similar with little bronze masks (about 5 cm) that I bought in West Africa, except I use them as clip on tablecloth weights. (You clip them onto the corners of the tablecloth when you are eating outside so that they don't flap in the wind).

Just how big are your spinel crystals anyways?

Ugh, I'd be more worried about cleaning solvents (silver polish, etc.) and other gunk from the clip getting into my tea!

Some teabags lack the lable and string. I suspect the more popular use would be roachclip

Actually... joke aside: with THIS teabag, why not a sapphire tag! In fact, that would probably complete the design marvelously. Never say never.... No sarcasm intended whatsoever: the object seems fascinating rather than odd, for some reason.

Andrew, did anything happen with the designs we exchanged notes about a few ages ago? Just curious :) It was fun!
