Something doesn't look right here. The piece of rough to cut that size stone, assuming great shape for top yield would have to be 10 cts. Any clean Mozambique material that size is going for $300 to $800 per ct. or even more. At low end, that would make the rough $3000. Now assume some guy cut it for $.05, and the guy would be happy with $10 profit, the price should be at least $3010.05

Who would risk selling the stone for $600 on eBay? If the stone really is what he claims it is, a decent wholesale price would be $12,000.

I really don't know, but I've seen bad & very good Mozambique Purple & Lavendar Tourmaline go for $300.00 a carat on DSN. Many stones much larger than this. They also bought thousands of carats at a time.

I think he means Direct Shopping Network, its available via satellite TV here in the states.

There is quite a bit of that purple mozambique tourmaline going around that is not copper bearing. I know some dealers that have been able to get the rough very inexpensively for the purple colors. Some really beautiful colors but nothing out of the ordinary. Actually, they auction maybe overpriced for buyers, based that the Thai dealer possibly paid very little for the piece. Ugly cut too.
