For details of a similar simulant see GnG lab notes, winter 1995 http://www.gia.edu/Winter-1995-Lab-Notes-Gems-Gemology (fun relevant side-note: this article was just brought to mind last weekend when I got a green/yellow bicolor tourmaline. Fortunately a friend of mine pointed out the pleochroism on my stone so I didn't need to worry).

Good to see Christinite is still as well received as it was on release... Anyway, I'm seeing "Fire Garnet" and Apatite in their listings that I would bet is also coloured glass stuff. Seriously, garnet? In that colour, in that weight for the size, with that glow? I wonder if anyone has tried a diagonal orientation with that blue/green christinite to make that false pleochroism. Someone did it with ametrine in the Off The Dop thread...
