Not much to say here, just a very nice example of that odd find of imperial-style Zambian topaz.
I'd be all for it but I can't pay Lavinsky prices.

It is still not as nice by a long shot as the best picture of one I've seen, taken at the 2006 show where they debuted. Sold by the Gobins.

I heard that this deposit also produced some pink stones. Alas, the only examples I've seen seemed to be colored almost entirely by yellow iron staining. Great crystal form, though, very similar to or indistinguishable from Brazilian stones. If only I hadn't been 14, not yet big into topaz and essentially penniless when the find happened.

Hey Stephen...I had completely forgot about the "imperial" type coming from this neck of the woods. I remember discussing the name "Imperial" and all it's idiosyncrasies, with Menendez before he passed some years back. I think I recall the mentioning of the Zambian material from someone.. It comes from the same metamorphic environment as the Ouro Preto stones. Thanks for reminding me of these beauties.
