i was under the impression that hackmanite needed to show color change under Short wave with tenebrescence in order to be cosidered hackmanite? or is that just one possible charachteristic of the stone?

i also love the dealers motto "SATISFACTION OF VALUABLE CUSTOMERS". now that is an interesting business strategy!

Greetings lenaraiwa!

I know this is an old post but, from what I've seen in literature it seems you are right. Tenebrescence is necessary in order to call a sodalite "hackmanite." I believe the same for SW fluorescence in conjunction with the tenebrescence.

I think that logic is inherently flawed as some hackmanites show such a minor change some would debate whether to call them hackmanite at all. It is kind of like the difference between pink sapphire and ruby. I personally would like a more concrete name based on chemical composition but that isn't always possible and can create problems of its own.

I thought this would be of interest if it doesn't put you to sleep first:
