Hello,

I just passed the 20 stone final this week in NYC and I'm so happy.

I may have the world record at GIA, but I'm not sure. I completed my first class, Diamond Grading, in 1989, and I just kept going. I'll start studying now for the GG final and I hope to take it next month.

I never dreamed of actually finishing the GG when I started, I just wanted more information and I love working with gems. Back in 1989, I was in college and working part-time selling jewelry.

I'm a science teacher now and I'm planning a larger unit on gem ID with my 8th grade class. I did it last year and they really liked working with the gems.

Call me Kevin or Seven (I taught math for years to 6th graders and love number games) hehe

Hi and welcome,

Always nice to hear that a teacher can rub of some of his love on the kids. Hopefully a new generation of gemmologists is being created because of it.

How wonderful for those children to be exposed to gemology, up close and personal, as early as the 8th grade, Seven! Where were you when I was in 8th grade?... :smt017 ...oh yeah, you weren't even born yet! :smt113

Welcome to the family, and congratulations on passing your 20 stone exam. Good job! :smt023

Congrats Seven! Now this is the kind of stuff that makes ones day. And to paraphrase Doos, its good to see you pass on your love of gems to you class. One or more of your students might just become the next Liddicoat or surpass that and reach Doos status! 8)

PS. For all you who are wondering , yes, my icon pix is of daughters, Ally Jessica (6) Lindsay Elizabeth (4):smt055 Taken last month pretending to drive on thier grandpas ATV. They are why I need to make this work.
