Greetings all
i am developing an easy plotting software with many features. any ideas and help is welcome.

The Software is freeware. but by request the programmer adds special feature/Institute or Company Name/Advertisement/ in his software then he might present it as shareware which is not related to main software.

i will add changes and features to this topic also version history and downloads in second post.

Features:
- Importing any Plot Template in any Graphic format (ex from perfect diagram or anyother format) DONE
- ready templates of various shapes in software
- Inserting INTERNAL/EXTERNAL CHARACTERISTICS SYMBOLS according to new GIA System. DONE
- adding/edditing Symbols to Library if needed by user DONE
- enabling to full edit Symbols by Freehand tools DONE
- having Proportion information for Round and Other Shapes according to GIA's "Profile (to)/(not to) Actual Proportions"
- Inclusion Help to understand each symbol is for what kind of inclusion and a Gallery of various inclusions also Movie to help plotting.
- Inserting KEY SYMBOLS into plot
- Exporting to any graphic format or doc
- ...

for some features like inclusion gallery i need help, i have some good quality but with help of you guys we can improve software.

Thank you,
Farshid

This Plotter program is like usual professional Vector Drawing tools (e.g. CorelDraw, Adobe Illustrator) if you have basic information how to work with them this program would be easy for you, anyway if you work with it a little bit you would know all features

Hi Farshid,

as i said in another thread, THAT could be very useful.
About additional features, well it could be cool to have different sets of porportions related to different labs standards for cut evaluations, you know not all labs share the same idea of what "excellent" or "ideal" means, neverthless that will be a minor add, i would love the software even with the features you described "only", LOL.
ciao

This may be an ignorant question, but would software such as this be of any use with colored gems?

@Alberto
you mean proportion for Profile ? anyway you have to supply me and give em example so i can work it out with my programmer.

@Jason
Plot is mostly for Diamonds but in GIA , there is Also Plotting for Colored Stones as well, most symbols are same only few additional symbols like "Growth Zoning, Fingerprint, Liquid Inclusion, Percussion Mark, Rough Girdle" and that's no problem. i can manage to add that to the software too so it also can be use for both diamond and colored stones.

i am hoping to have first beta version by end of following week

Farshid,

you posted this in another thread:

as said in my posts on that thread it would be very helpful to have the REAL sideview of the stone with all the proportion values.

@ alberto
the software can import from any graphic format and you can have DiamCal to get your real proportion then import it into the software and do the plotting.

but again if you want this unique feature to give proportion and get actual proportion model then i have to talk to my programmer and if he can do it then he will charge you. as i said the extra features is not related to this software.
to be honest i think DiamCal is much worth to buy and have this feature, anyway its your call to order custom software with extra feature for your own use.

My post was an idea.
i'm aware that would be hard to develop it but likely you could sell your software if that feature would be included, it could be a totally new tool and, again, very useful for many gemologists/appraisers.
if you think it could be worthwile you can work on it, otherwise AMEN.

i appreciate your help Alberto, i have study this feature before and having this feature requires lots of work not similar to just a simple drawing tool, the thing is having the feature you ask requires a team of programmers and lots of money to have a great software and there is already a program to do it and competing with octanus is not easy,

also about selling the software, i dont want any money from this software. even if someone wants special feature/Institute or Company Name/Advertisement/ the money goes to programmer to do extra work not me. 8) ! even if someone willing to donate then should contact the programmer not me.

ok here is first working version, still needs more development and i really appreciate if you guys help to make it professional and bug free, just play with it :) and draw some plots

Download program and inclusion library and plot sample from post #2
run program and load inclusion in "Symbols Library" then in Toolbar select Plot and "Set Plot" and load Plot Sample for Round cut (ROUND SAMPLE.wmf) thats all !

i have added all diamond standard inclusion symbols according to GIA but you can also make your own library or add delete symbols
just drag inclusion you want to main window of program

screenshot from program
