Thank you for accepting me to the forum...

I have many years lapidary/semi-precious mineral experience.. Have worked almost every imaginable semi-precious , and most all the chatoyant minerals as well.. At least the ones that could be cabbed.. I never did any faceting..

But this chatoyant Chinese snuff bottle has me perplexed.

I took a macro image, and looks natural structure to me, but I lack expertise in gem grade minerals.. I have some possibilities in mind, but would sure appreciate comments .

I apologize... After posting this, I read some rules that required I know a lot more about what I have before asking for help...

Taake a close look across the grain, 90 degrees from the chatoyance. Cats eye glass is fairly common, and will show a distonctive pattern of interlocking hexagons. That would be my first guess.

Here is the side of the bottle.. 90 degrees..

From the two magnified pics, can we tell for sure it is at least natural chatoyant structure ?
