You are probably going to start to think that I'm a sucker! I have made the mistake of buying many beads from China and I have been duped into buying many fakes. I'm not a gem expert though but they certainly don't look real. They were advertised as Sri Lanka Moonstone/Opal. What do you think these really are? They are not consistently size which would make you think they probably are some stone, if they were glass you would think that the size would be more consistent. They are supposed to be 6mm. Some of them as you can see from the photos have that opaque look of opal and some are nearly clear. I'm taking several losses on beads that I am not staking my reputation on as a reseller and probably once all my beads I Have ordered from China are received will stick to ordering in the US, unless anyone has any recommendations on good wholesalers of quality gemstone beads. I only want to deal in quality products!

Great, and thanks and looking forward to your feedback :)

My guess would be opalescent glass (oftrn sold as 'opalite'). Can't really say for sure from the picture.

Moonstone are no Opals and Opals are no Moonstone.
These are two different kind of stones.

Moonstone is a sodium potassium aluminium silicate http://www.gemologyonline.com/moonstone.html .
Opal is a hydrated amorphous form of silica http://gemologyonline.com/opal.html .

But such mistakes are only done once ....

"Opal Moonstone", "Sea Opal", "Opal Quartz" or "Opal Quartz" etc. are Glass OPALITE and Opalite is an artificial product.
Maybe this article will be interesting for you

I'm with steinfroilein and Stephan.

I agree, opalescent glass.
Very common, and very commonly sold as moonstones.
