 Post subject: What is this red/black stone?

Found this stone digging, anything interesting or just another funny looking rock!? Its about 50mm in length and covered in black bits, underside is way more red than that in photo.

Yeah, some sort of cobglomerate with a weaker cementing material. It may look bery different inside, maybe like puddingstone or similar.

Yeah, I've seen similar ones before. It's not super typical but the jasper can take a pretty high polish while the weaker cementing matrix just undercuts.

Of course it's also possible that it's a piece of concrete with jasper pebbles mixed in that's been through similar weathering.
