Hello to all,

could anybody help me with a opinion to this gemstone. It is from a roman ring found in Belgium. Somebody told me it could be onyx but it has a dark blue tone, is bluish transparent against light and has visible small inclusions. The pedigree says jasper, i don't believe it.

Any proposals are welcome before i possibly have to go to an expert.

Just a thought.
The first thing I would do with an item like this IS go to an expert in antiquarian jewelry.
Let us know what you find out.
