While I love to guess on these things -- there is just not enough info in the picture. I can't see any crystal forms, and even that is sometimes faked. Can you do a hardness test? A density? (Sapphire/Ruby is very hard, and very dense). Do they fluoresce? (Ruby fluoresces an intense red usually). Can you look at it under a microscopy and take a picture/ Even if they were determined to be ruby that would not make them natural.

My first impression is that I would not buy them. I don't know why, but they look dyed to me. I could be wrong of course, but nothing about them looks like any of the many natural rubies/sapphires i have seen. Perhaps it is my monitor. I would love to hear other opinions, though.

One can never be sure without samples to examine. However, it looks a lot like Ruby from some of the lower quality East African deposits. It also looks like it has limited commercial value.

Agreed. They might star if cabbed, but even cabbing these can be a big pain because they need special care to polish half the time.

Thank you all for your replies, the hardness test gave me 9 using the cheap tester (diamond detector II). I ordered a led mini microscope on the internet, i will post some pictures once it's received.

Current value is whatever you paid for it.

As 1bwana1 said, very little commercial value and our forum would probably not be the best place to look for avenues for reselling.
