Well when you consider the chemistry of the ground water it was originally subjected to in Mexico, tap water would probably be OK, but you might as well use distilled or purified.

Well, this project was certainly a success. Well done, idrmname. =D> =D> =D>

PS I'd leave it in the H20 until your display dome arrives...

Been soaking in water since last Aug 2019(about 8 months)
Clarity has improved ! looks completely clear. flashes and sparkles of green.
and bright red sparkles too! Never seen it so alive! Heres some new pics for you all!
Hope you enjoy. Amazing seeing the transformation from a few months ago!
looks a bit hazy in pictures because of bright outdoor light reflection, but crystal clear in person.
you can still see some color play in pics.

Pretty nice. Unfortunately it might dry again faster than it has been soaked...
