Also note that spinel is also found in Badakhshan Province across the border in Afghanistan. AFAIK they are from the Koksha Valley area near the lapis lazuli mines. I have several crystals from here, several are dark blue, several lilac ones and an orange-red crystal.

I do also have 4 gem rough specimens from Tajikistan which are partial crystals. These ones are pink.
