I have quite a few cabochons I got from a gemstone auction that were not identified.. this being one of them. I know identifying through pictures is difficult and won’t give me a definite answer but any help is appreciated! It’s yellow but isn’t one solid color, there is slight variation. It doesn’t sparkle like aventurine, and is not translucent or waxy at all. In my pictures it is wrapped, but without the wrap, it has quite a bit of weight to it.

The yellow stone could be one of several possibilities.

BUT, the quality of that wire wrapping is the most impressive I can remember seeing. Did you do it?

The texture beings quartzite to mind. You'd need to do testing to get a real idea unfortunately.

If you live in the SF Bay Area, I'll be happy to test it for you when everything calms down.

Unfortunately I’m in PA and I haven’t been able to find anyone in my area that I trust to identify it. Yellow quartzite is the closest looking in pictures. I will try to keep researching and hopefully find someone to test it for new. Thanks for your help!
