not sure sure if the quality of the pictures is enough but I will try.
some info-
pulled off from a vintage 585 marked &tested gold earring.
1.05Ct, top color,eye clean,almost loup clean.
RI tested for corundum, glowing strong under LW.
my first clue that it's synthetic (of course ) based on everything
but maybe someone here can see things that I have missed.
*pictures under dark field condenser.

Have you found anything that indicates the ruby to be natural?
I certainly don's see anything.

haven't disprove it,yet
but no.
nothing that is definitive enough to call this natural as far as my understanding and equipment.

I see nothing that leads me to make a call in either direction.

That is extremely rare in a natural Ruby for what it is worth.

Thanks.
maybe the hallmark on the piece itself can give a clue if it's a known maker,it might be worth to keep investigatin.
I couldn't recognized the maker, just know that its vintage and European.
inside earring there is a fish hallmark with 585,
and another hallmark on the front-

The cutting style and surface features lean toward synthetic.

agree.

the earring itself from what I found, I believe was made in germany by fischlandschmuck (based on the fish mark inside) about 1940-50? they didn't use synthetic stones as far as I know, but mostly silver with amber ,with a few exceptions pieces made with gold and natural stones.
anyway, the stone may have been replaced at some point, who knows...
