The first image makes me think of a limb cast. Any idea of where it was found?

My first impressions we're inline with Mexican opal, but I can see it as well being agate or a limb cast. Somewhat to brownish to be mx opal though.

They can have a similar surface texture (and that is probably not just coincidence, there seems to be evidence that they interconvert given the right circumstances) but that waxy luster and wear/break pattern is very classically agatey.

Yes very true, at first glance in pic #1 the fracture lines made me think it maybe Mx opal, but your right if opal it would have a more glassy conchoidal appearance.
