I need help to identify this thing. I had my eye on this piece in a shop near me, and i just bought it yesterday. Evey since I saw it, I've been stumped as to what it could be. My roommate thinks that it might be glass. I don't want it to be, but if thats what it is, so be it. If anyone has any information as to what it could possibly be, I would appriciate it if you could share with me. Its pink and peach colored, with almost evenly spaced radial lines coming from the senter of one side and heading to the other. It is not a pergect design though, it has some spothes where a layer of the same pattern is on top of it, but that slightly further down on the sphere. Im sorry if the picture is bad, its hard to get on camera.

Is this sphere pierced ? What are the dimensions and how much it weighs ? It could be tinted ivory ;I've seen Indian ivory bracelets with this shade of pink
It is impossible to appreciate the dimensions from this photo without reference. If the sphere is large, there is little chance that it could be coral. The cost of this object can also give an idea .
It makes me more and more think of an ivory billiard ball .

I retract my thoughts of coral based on the size. It is still a possibility, but really like said it is not possible to truly id by photo. Barbra has a good suggestion on the dye check possibility. Also If a hot needle tip penetrates the surface, might indicate an organic substance. But these are destructive simple tests. Do you have the ability to get an accurate weight?
