While I was away in Taiwan, I visited a famous Jade market and purchased absolutely no jade! I did come across this interesting bracelet that I liked because of the colors, though. The man who sold it to me spoke broken English, but from what he told me it was quartz (glass does not scratch it, and I do know the black in some of it is tourmaline!) and that it was popular in Taiwan because of its "healing powers." I also remember him telling me they were from Taiwan, but I don't know if this is true because of the broken English. I do not remember how much in NTD that I spent on it, so I have no idea if I got a steal or was taken for a spin. All comments on what you think is in the quartz, and if you can tell if the quality is at least okay, would be appreciated! Also, the pink string in it was not my choice, I am hoping to have a clear string put through it soon.
Sorry about the picture quality, I could not get my camera to focus any closer and it would not let me show some of the smaller details.
Rutile can occur in different colors and often it can be found in reddish brown to bright red and black paint. As inclusions in other minerals - such as in quartz - rutile shines also in strong golden-yellow color and is called Venus hair. Rarely however appear bluish or purple hues.
