Personally I would never rely on a single test, particularly with a valuable stone. I would want to see spectrum, S.G. and R.I. before I committed myself. I am having my tame instrument maker fit a digital depth gauge to a biological microscope so I can get reliable R.I.
figures on gems above 1.81.
