I’ve tried posting this several times and never works.
Maybe it will here.
Found this stone in a river a while back and was wondering if someone could tell me what it is.
Maybe Smokey quartz?

The bubbly (botryoidal) growth on the surface strongly suggests agate. It would be worth having sliced in half to see what might be inside.

Thanks guys. Man I think I will cut it in half. Is there some sort of solution to soak it in or dab the inside to show the layers or colors?

Plain old water is my favorite.

Smokey Quartz would be... Smokey... This is white instead of gray.
I think it's agate as well.

White chalcedony, similar to that found in botryoidal "desert roses" is my two cents. Agates are banded, chalcedony isn't. A hardness test might be in order. Chalcedony is 6.5-7 Mohs.

The image above looks very similar to what I have seen, over the last couple of days, while having a look over an old chrysoprase mine in the Australian desert. Also explains the big broken (not banded) white pieces that had the look of broken glass left lying at the side of the pit.
Thanks for the info :)
