Is the arm tool what’s used to make the bevels & facets & make them with the same % angle & uniformity?

I think I need to get a good Lapidary book. Any ideas? Was considering GUIDE TO AFFORDABLE GEMOLOGY?

Bevels and facets?

Are you cabbing, or faceting? A good cabber can do precision work, producing a uniform, smooth, and perfectly polished cabochon.

Anything with flat faces is typically going to be done on a flat lap or faceting machine. One can polish flats with a cab machine, but it's really meant for cutting and polishing curves.

Try posting in the "Lapidary Corner: Colored Stones" forum, it's where the cutters hang out.
