Hello, i recently bought a sapphire and im wondering if it's a real sapphire and how i can determine that at home. It does scratch amethyst, so it's harder than 7, i dont know if there is any stones with moh 8 that looks like a yellow sapphire thought. Any more tests i can do to determine if it is a real sapphire? Tests i can do at hime that is.
And if it is a real sapphire, do you know the approx price of it? I know its hard from pictures, but the approx price would be awesome to know, if its 5 dollars, 500 or even 5000. It is 1,7 ct, and is heat treated. pictures below.

With all the fractures in it, I am afraid it is close to $5. (Probably less). There are of course other things that are harder than quartz and yellow (golden beryl, for example), but it really doesn't matter.

I have the feeling too that it might be a glass-filled low quality natural sapphire. I have no proof of course, but I have seen more than one looking like that. Low value.

You think it is glass filled? How can i tell, there is no bubbles, i checked under a 10x loupe.
This is a picture i took, the first ones is provided by the seller with a 10x microscopic camera. You can barely see the inclusions, but they are there. https://ibb.co/b0JCbw

I have no proof. I just say that it might be, given the color, the general look, the turbidity, the abundancy of cracks. It would be a good candidate for this treatment. I have seen many glass-filled yellow sapphires with that typical appearance. The way they treat today doesn't always show bubbles alas. You might need to check the stone through a lab, but given its value, I don't think it is worth it, treated or not.

Oh they dont have bubbles in todays glass filled? Is there anything i can do at home to kind of remove the glass, if there is any, without damaging the sapphire? So i know if it is glass filled without sending it to a lab
